Welcome to Hay’s Shack, we serve fresh, high quality hand-cooked meals prepared using locally sourced meat from local butchers where possible, and lots of local fruit and vegetables which are all used to hand prepare the delicious sauces you see in our menus.
Starting in 2017 from a trailer on Canterbury high-street, Hayley sold homemade piri piri chicken from her trailer under the name ‘Hay’s Homemade Piri Piri Chicken’. As time went on, and interest in her food began to grow through attending festivals, events and weddings, Hayley decided to offer more and more options to her menu such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. With a new menu, the name ‘Hay’s Shack’ was born, allowing a more inclusive brand for the diverse range of food and drink prepared and served to vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters alike.
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, all events and festivals were cancelled. So Hayley decided to rise to the challenge of keeping the local community eating great food and in high-spirits by allowing take-away and delivery from her trailer which she set up on her front drive. The response and support from the community was incredible, and this is what led Hayley to set up a shop in Sandwich, Kent which has been responsibly developed using re-claimed wood. All tablewear including knives and forks are also biodegradable, reducing impact on the environment as much as possible.
